1) What yarns are used for our throws?
Our throws are made from premium natural fibers, primarily baby alpaca and pima cotton, and occasionally blended with other sustainable materials to enhance softness and durability.
2. Where are your throws made?
We make our own throws in Peru, thanks to our team of artisans that use traditional techniques to bring you a unique product.
3. What makes alpaca fiber special?
Alpaca fiber is exceptionally soft, warm, lightweight, hypoallergenic, and more durable than most other natural fibers. It’s also naturally water- and wrinkle-resistant.
4. Are your products ethically and sustainably made?
Yes, we prioritize sustainable sourcing and fair working conditions, ensuring that every artisan is paid fairly and works in safe, supportive environments. We currently work with the R.A.S certification and Peruvian fair trade practices.
5. How should I care for my throw?
We recommend dry cleaning or gently hand washing your throw in cold water. If you have any specfic inquiries about throw care, feel free to email us at service@thepuna.com
6. Do you ship internationally?
No, we currently only ship within the United States from our warehouse in California. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout.
7. How long will it take to receive my order?
Orders are processed and shipped within 2–4 business days of purchase.
Standard delivery typically takes 5–10 business days, depending on your location. Please note that delivery times may vary due to factors beyond our control, such as carrier delays or weather conditions.
8. What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery on unused, unwashed items in their original condition and packaging. Please contact our support team to start the process.
9. I'm allergic to alpaca. Can I still use your throws?
Alpaca fiber is hypoallergenic. Contrary to a common misconception that it may be itchy or trigger allergies, the truth is that, any discomfort is usually the result of poorly selected, lower-quality fibers. We only source the highest quality baby alpaca from our partners in Peru.
10. Are alpacas harmed during the shearing?
No, alpacas are not harmed during shearing. Their fleece is carefully and safely removed to ensure their comfort and well-being. The people behind the shearing are the same people that raise the alpacas, ensuring they take proper care of their own alpacas. The shearing happens only once a year.
11. How can I get info about my order?
You will receive your order confirmation via email and then your tracking number once the order leaves our warehouse. If you haven't received that info, just contact us at service@thepuna.com and we will assist you.
